Reading Marriages, 1876-84
This databases are part of over 750,000 records held by the Berks County, Pennsylvania Register of Wills/Clerk of the Orphans' Court whose office is located in the Berks County Services Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. The indexes were compiled by the staff of these offices and volunteers over a period of eight (8) years. The records were typed either from the indexes themselves or, for those records not indexed, from the actual documents.

Reading Births, 1876-1905
This database indexes almost 49,000 births registered in the City of Reading. In 1906, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania took over the recording of all birth and death records in the state. Please note because in many instances first names were not recorded, last name only searches are most likely to produce results. When requesting records from the Berks County Register of Wills Office, please give the name, file number, and year.

Reading, Deaths, 1873-1905
This database indexes nearly 39,000 deaths recorded in the City of Reading only. In 1906, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania took over the recording of all birth and death records in the state. Please note that because in some instances the records are recorded without first names, last name only searches are most likely to produce results. When requesting a record from the Berks County Register of Wills, include the name, year, book volume, page, and line number.

Reading Directories, 1887-90
Located in central Berks County, Reading was home to over 30,000 people before the turn of the twentieth century. This database is a transcription of four city directories originally published between 1887 and 1890. In addition to providing the resident's name, it provides information regarding their address and occupation. This collection includes the names of over 114,100 people, mostly heads of households. For those Pennsylvania genealogy researchers seeking ancestors from eastern Pennsylvania, this can be an informative database.
