An affluent suburb of Boston, the town of Chelsea was formed in 1793
and was home to about 30,000 residents in 1890. This database is a
collection of two directories for the city originally published in
1890 and 1892. It is a listing of city residents in those years. In
addition to providing the resident's name, it provides their address
and occupational information. It includes the names of over 32,000
people, mostly heads of households. For the genealogy researcher of
ancestors from metropolitan Boston and Chelsea, this can be an
extremely valuable collection.
